Villanova’s Shelly Pennefather:
Shelly Pennefather scored 2,408 career points, the most by any Wildcats and the most by a Big Five female. She made her presence known immediately, averaging 19.0 points a game as a freshman and being named as the Big East Freshman of the Year. She then won three straight Big East Player of the Year honors, two Big East Tournament MVPs, three first-team all-Big Five awards and the 1987 Margaret Wade Trophy, as the nation’s top player. Villanova was successful in her career, winning 93 times and taking the Big East title twice. Pennefather scored a school record 44 points against Cheyney in 1985. Her 1,171 career rebounds is first all-time at VU and her 485 assists are just 36 away from the top spot.
