Arrangement
The Undergraduate Assembly of the University of Pennsylvania records are organized into three series, Minutes, Reports, and General File, which are arranged alphabetically or chronologically where appropriate.
Agency History
The Undergraduate Assembly, established in 1972 by the University of Pennsylvania’s Board of Trustees, is tasked with five main obligations:
1. Lobby for tangible change based on student needs.
2. Represent students to administrators and outsiders.
3. Bring students from different groups and identities together.
4. Provide services to improve students’ quality of life.
5. Fund the other branches of student government.
The Undergraduate Assembly has the power to make recommendations to the President, Provost, and Trustees, and to request reports from the University administration. Membership is made of representatives from each of the undergraduate schools (the College of Arts and Sciences, the School of Nursing Science, the Wharton School, and the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences) and the freshman class. Representatives are elected to one-year terms. The number of representatives from each school is proportionate to the size of the student body of each particular school. Ten seats on the University Council are reserved for members of the Undergraduate Assembly.

The Undergraduate Assembly of the University of Pennsylvania records document the organisation’s activities in its role as the representative of the entire undergraduate student body at the University of Pennsylvania. A diverse range of topics of documented, including housing, diversity, open expression, and environmental concerns. General information on the structure and function of the Undergraduate Assembly, including ad hoc and a priori committees is also included.
