Plunket Fleeson Glentworth, the son of Dr. George Glentworth and Margaret Linton, was born in Philadelphia, probably in 1760 but some sources indicate a birth year of 1768.
Dr. Glentworth received his medical degree from Penn in 1790, and during the following year served briefly as the last secretary to the Board of Trustees of the University of the State of Pennsylvania.
Glentworth was named a fellow of the College of Physicians in 1792. Two years later he married Harriet Budden. One of their eight children, George Peter Glentworth, was among the founders of the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy in 1821.
