Probably the son of John Evans the 2nd of Chester County, this John Evans served as a justice of the Pennsylvania Supreme Court during and after the revolution. The Hon. John Evans was appointed as a trustee of the University of the State of Pennsylvania (now the University of Pennsylvania) in 1779 and served until his death in 1784.
