Firman Newton Warwick was born in Philadelphia on November 26, 1897. He entered the University of Pennsylvania as a freshman in 1916.
At Penn Warwick was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon and Sigma Tau fraternities, the Hexagon Honor Society, Plumb-Bob Society, and the Ivy Ball Committee. He also acted in a play, was vice president of the Civil Engineering Society, and won the Frazier Prize. As an athlete, he was catcher on the 1918, 1919, and 1920 varsity baseball teams.
Immediately after graduation, Warwick played with the San Antonio baseball club of the Texas League. Warwick made his major league baseball debut as a catcher with the Pittsburgh Pirates on July 18, 1921. He also played for the St. Louis Cardinals before retiring from the majors in 1926. He did continue to play semiprofessional ball, however; in 1928 he is known to have played for the Minneapolis Millers.
Warwick later worked as an estimator and designer for the DuPont company. Warwick died in San Antonio, Texas, on December 9, 1984.
