The University Archives houses University of Pennsylvania Catalogues going as far back as 1825. The earliest catalogues provided listings of trustees, faculty, and matriculants for the various constituent schools or departments of the University along with summary enrollment statistics for the Academy and Charity School. As the nineteenth century progressed, the catalogues concentrated almost exclusively on the College and professional schools. The type of information offered in the catalogues was expanded to include University regulations regarding entrance requirements, course offerings, examination subjects, most recent graduates, special fees, and other matters.
A growing selection of these catalogues are available online by the University Archives and the Hathi Trust Digital Library. The University Archives’ copies have been scanned in color and in their entirety (including oversized maps and inserts) and provided here in PDF format. The Hathi Trust copies are noted with an asterisk (*) and are available in PDF format but do not include scans of oversize inserts. Any missing pages and text can be obtained from the University Archives.
