BIOGRAPHICAL NOTE

Samuel N. Weigle was born in 1916 in Davenport, Iowa. He attended Wharton where he received his BS in Economicson February 14, 1942.

SCOPE AND CONTENT

The Samuel N. Weigle Photograph Collection is comprised of nine images taken in and around the University of Pennsylvania and Philadelphia in the early 1940s. Originally, the photographs were mounted on matte board via spray adhesive. Many of the images were beginning to separate from the matte board, and since the board itself appeared acidic and briddle, the remaining images were removed. The boards had on the back: “Julian Weigle, 416 Franklin Dorm U. of P.” written in pen, and a label with Samuel N. Weigle’s Westminster, CO address.
