The William Frederick Rehfuss Scrapbook was transferred to the University Archives from the School of Dental Medicine Library (Accession number 2015:018, May 2015).

BIOGRAPHICAL NOTE

William Frederick Rehfuss graduated from the University of Pennsylvania Department of Dentistry in 1887. Born in Philadelphia on March 1, 1867, Rehfuss graduated from Central High School in 1884, and began his professional studies with Dr. Thomas Robson in Philadelphia a year before matriculating to the University of Pennsylvania. While a student he served on the editorial staff of the Daily Pennsylvanian. After graduation he opened a practice in Philadelphia as well as a summer office in Ocean Grove, NJ. Dr. Rehfuss authored a book on dental jurisprudence, and was a contributor to various professional societies. Rehfuss died on March 28, 1893 of Bright’s disease.

SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE

The William Frederick Rehfuss Scrapbook contains primarily clippings of article written by Dr. Rehfuss during his short professional career. Additionally, it contains dental images, a photograph of Dr. Rehfuss, correspondence, and some memorabilia.
