Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the University Archives staff are mostly working remotely during the Spring 2021 semester. We shall, however, offer expanded digital access to our collections, including through virtual sessions and increased reprographic support. The Reading Room will be available for limited onsite access only to Penn faculty researchers and staff, and students who need access for courses in which they are enrolled.
The standard Reproduction Fees regarding photocopies will be temporarily suspended and the following fees and procedures will apply:
- Requests can be made to copy/scan entire folders but will be limited to 10 folders per week.
- There will be a flat fee of $5 per folder for non-Penn affiliated researchers. In order to facilitate the rapid processing of requests, the cost is not calculated on a per page basis but on a per folder basis.
- Penn-affiliated researchers will not be charged for copies/scans but the same weekly limits shall apply.
Our primary focus is to support the teaching, learning, scholarly research, and administrative needs of the University of Pennsylvania community. To support these needs fully, we anticipate re-opening the University Archives to the Penn community in a limited manner after October 12, 2020, but may move the date later depending on the coronavirus situation. Our primary concern is the health and safety of staff and researchers during this period and there will be new processes regarding access to the collections which will be posted once the limited reopening date is established.
